לוּק מוּן הוא מנהל פרויקט פ׳ילוס ונראה שהוא הנוצרי הכי האהוב של ישראל 365 כעת.

לוּק מוּן אחד מנהיגי היוזמה המשותפת של נוצרים ויהודים "שמור על אדמת השם" [KGL]. הנהגת האירגון כוללת טומי וולר, הבישוף רוברט סטרנס, ח"כ אוהד טל, ח"כ גילה גמליאל, הרב תולי וייס, הרב פסח ווליקי, בין היתר רבנים, כמרים, שגרירים לשעבר וחברי בית הנציגי ארה״ב לשעבר. ללחוץ בשמות למידע נוסף על הרקע של כל אחד שרשום.

לפני כמה ימים קהילת בני ג'שורון בטיאנק, ניו ג'רזי אירחה מון והרב אלי מישל מישראל. לדעתנו האירוע בטעם המשימה של ישראל 365 לאחד יהודים עם נוצרים.

כנראה שאף אחד לא חוקר את הנוצרים כאלה לפני שנותנים להם להכנס לבתי הכנסת שלהם כדי לדבר עם יהודים ואפילו להשפיע להם. או הם כן חוקרים אותם, או שלא אכפת להם, או בעצם מאשרים, ולא חושבים שיש בעיה ברקע המיסיונרי שלהם.

מהו פרויקט פ׳ילוס?

המשימה שלנו
פרויקט פ׳ילוס פועל לקדם מעורבות נוצרית חיובית במזרח הקרוב על ידי הכשרת מנהיגים, בניית קהילה ופועלים ברוח המסורת העברית.

מעורבות נוצרית חיובית? הכשרת מנהיגים [נוצריים]? לפי הניסיון שלנו ביטוים האלה בביטויי סיסמא, המציבים את הבסיס ל"שיתוף באמונה", כלומר שליחי הבשורה הנוצרית, אבל באמצעים חכמים וזהירים.

פועלים ברוח המסורת העברית? זו הייתה אסטרטגיה של הנוצרים כבר די הרבה זמן, בכדי לשכנע את היהודים להזדהות עם הנוצרים למטרת ״להתחבר לעם ישראל״, או פשוט לרדוף אחרי יהודים שאינם בקיאים בהיסטוריה ובמסורות שלהם.

"השתלה על העם ישראל" (כשמחברים ענף לעץ אחר; כלאים) הוא שלב ביניים בהחלפת יהודים בנוצרים כיורשים של ארץ ישראל. לדעת הנוצרים האלה רק היהודים שמקבלים את האמונות הכוזבות של הנצרות ינצחו בסופו של דבר.

מה עמדתך לגבי הסכסוך הישראלי-פלסטיני?

נשמח מאוד לדעת היכן בדיוק בתנ"ך נשבע הקב"ה את ארץ ישראל או אפילו חלקה לגוי שאינו עם ישראל. לא כתוב דבר כזה בכלל.

הנוצרים האלה שטוענים הם פועלים ״למען ישראל" תומכים בישראל דמוקרטית שבה כל הדתות שוות ומוגן על חופש הדת של הנוצרים לבשור ולתרגל את עבודתם הזרה. הם לא תומכים במדינת ישראל יהודית אמיתית.

למרות שאנו מבינים בכך שאין ברירה ליהודים שעדיין מתגוררים בחו״ל (בגלה) להתיחס לגוים. זה משהו שונה לגמרי לתמוך בארגון הדוגל בפשרת ריבונות היהודית של ארץ ישראל וגם במתן הקצבה לנוצרים מתגוררים בארץ, למרות אמונתם ופולחן לאלוהות ומשיח שקר.

כתבנו לרבני ונשיא קהילת בני ישורון לשאול על הזמנתם לוּק מוּן להיות דובר באירוע אצלם. אחרי שבועות של המתנה עוד לא קיבלנו שום תגובה.

Luke Moon, director of the Philos Project seems to be Israel 365's latest Christian they are crushing on.

Luke Moon is on the leadership of the joint Christian and Jewish Keep God's Land [KGL] initiative. The leadership also includes Tommy Waller, Bishop Robert Stearns, MK Ohad Tal, MK Gila Gamliel, Rabbi Tuly Weisz, Rabbi Pesach Wolicki, among other rabbis, pastors, former ambassadors, and former Members of Congress. Click on the names for additional information on each of their backgrounds.

Moon was hosted with Israel 365's Rabbi Elie Mischel at Congregation Bnei Jershurun in Teaneck, NJ, the other day. In our opinion, this event was part of Israel 365's mission to get Jews into bed with Christians.

Apparently no one bothers to investigate these Christians before letting them into their synagogues to speak to Jews, and to potentially influence them. Or perhaps they do, and either do not care, or actually approve, and find no problem with their missionary backgrounds.

Luke Moon was a missionary who traveled around the world, missionizing for 12 years with Youth With A Mission [YWAM].

What is the Philos Project?

Our Mission
The Philos Project seeks to promote positive Christian engagement in the Near East by creating leaders, building community, and taking action in the spirit of the Hebraic Tradition.

Positive Christian engagement? Creating [Christian] leaders? Our experience is that these are code phrases, setting the foundation for "sharing ones faith," in other words missionizing, but being clever and particularly careful about it.

Taking action in the spirit of the Hebraic Tradition? This has been a strategy of the Christians for quite some time now, used to play up their identification with Jews, as a means of "grafting onto them," or simply to prey on Jews not very knowledgeable of their own heritage and traditions.

"Grafting onto the Jewish People" is an intermediate stage in replacement of Jews with Christians as the inheritors of the Land of Israel. Only Jews who accept the false beliefs of Christianity will triumph in the end.

What is your position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?
"Our position begins from principles, not paradigms. We support Jewish security and self-determination in the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea; we also support Palestinian security and self- determination in the same area. Broadly, then, we support some variant of the two-state solution – ideally a Jewish state with a Palestinian minority and a Palestinian state with a Jewish minority – although we are open to new approaches that recognize both Jewish and Palestinian rights, including innovative ideas about confederation. We adamantly oppose those who deny the connection of Jews or Palestinians to the land, or who call for violence against the other. Both the Jewish state and the Palestinian state should be democratic and pluralistic.”

Not only does the Philos Project support a two-state solution, but two states that each have Jews and Arabs, living together as equals, with both states being pluralistic and democratic.

We would be very interested to know, where exactly in Tana"kh (the Bible), The Almighty has promised the Land of Israel to anyone other than the Jewish People.

These "pro-Israel Christians" support a democratic Israel in which all religions are equal and the religious freedom of Christians to evangelize and practice their avodah zarah (foreign/forbidden worship) is protected. They do not support a truly, Jewish State of Israel.

Although we recognize that Jews must interact with non-Jews while still residing in galuth (exile), it is a completely different issue to support an organization which advocates the compromising Jewish sovereignty of the Land of Israel, as well as the allowance for Christians to reside in the Land, in spite of their belief and worship of a foreign deity/false messiah.

We have written to Bnei Jeshurun, and after weeks of waiting, we have to yet to receive any response.

הרב אליעזר מלמד מישוב ברכה שבשומרון, כתב במאמר דעה ״יש המקילים מפני שאיסור עבודה זרה בשיתוף נאמר לישראל ולא לבני נוח״. הנה זה באנגלית ובעברית. עניין זה לא חדש. אבל אותם נוצרים המתגוררים קרוב לרב אינם עובדים או מתפללים בשיתוף בשום אופן.

במילים שלהם, הם מתפללים ישירות לאלוהות/משיח השקר שלהם, ומאמינים שהוא היה ויהיה התגלמותו פיזית של הקב״ה על פני האדמה. אנו מודאגים, בשל השפה שבה הרב משתמש במאמרו, שהשלב ההגיוני הבא שלו הוא להתחיל לדון בענייני גר תושב, וכיצד בסופו של דבר הנוצרים האלה יתקבלו להתגורר בארץ באופן קבוע.

אולי אין להתוכח איתו לגבי הגוים שבחוץ לארץ. אבל גר תושב חייב לקבל את כל התורה כולה כהאמת. האמונה באותו איש שאולי קיים בעבר ואולי לא שעוזר לתפילה של גוים להגיע להקב״ה לא מקובל לגר תושב. ומעמדו הרוחני המיוחד של בן אנוש כזה נוגדת בתורה.

לצערנו, טרם מצאנו רבנים המוכנים לערער על הרב מלמד בעמדתו. וזה מפריע לנו מאוד.

מה שהנוצרים הללו מאמינים ועושים, כמו סגידה לאלוהות השקר שלהם בכרמים, אם כי מקפידים לעשות זאת ללא מילים, והריקודים המיוחדים שלהם, אלה עבודת זרה לכולם.

Rabbi Eliezer Melamed of Bracha in Samaria, recently put out an opinion piece on non-Jews being allowed to pray through an intercessor. Here it is in English and in Hebrew. This is nothing new. But those Christians living next door to him do not pray this way, not in the least.

In their own words, they pray directly to their false deity/messiah, and believe that he was and will be a physical manifestation of HaShem's presence on earth. We are concerned, due to the language he uses in his article, that his next logic step is to begin discussing gerei toshav (resident aliens), and how these Christians will eventually be accepted to reside in Israel permanently.

What no one wants to face is that his opinion is well and good for outside of Israel. But for non-Jews to reside in the Land, they must except the truth of the entire Torah. Belief in an intercessor for prayer, the special spiritual status of a human being who may, or may not, even have existed, is in direct contradiction to Torah.

Unfortunately, we have yet to find any rabbis willing to challenge Rabbi Melamed on his position. We find that to be particularly disturbing.

What these Christians believe and do, such as worshiping their false deity in the vineyards, albeit careful to do so without words, and their special dances, is avodah zarah (foreign worship) for everyone.

The latest strategy of the forward-thinking Christians is to remove themselves from this category of idolatry. "Where are our idols? We don't have any idols!"

We are glad to hear Rabbi Richter change his terminology, and correct the longtime imprecise translation of avodah zarah as idolatry. Idolatry is only one of the many categories of avodah azarah. I hope that he will continue to do this going forward.

Bentzi Gopstein, who has received sanctions, broke up a missionary circle in Zion Square, Jerusalem.

נוכחותם של מיסיונרים קוריאנים בירושלים, ובמיוחד בשכונה זו, מדווחת כבר במהלך שנים. הם משתמשים בדירה באזור כמטה וכנסייה. לפני שנים רבות התקשרו לעיריית ירושלים לדווח על פעילותם. תגובת העירייה הייתה שהם קיבלו אישור.

למרבה טובתנו, יש לנו מנהיגים כמו בנצי גופשטיין שמבינים בכך שנוכחותם של מיסיונרים נוצריים, הפצת מסרי עבודה זרה של אלוהות-משיחי שקר, אינה מקובלת בשום פנים ואופן.

There was a group of missionaries in the square who were singing songs about Yoshke Jesus. Around them stood a large group of people who heard, but remained silent. The presence of Korean-based missionaries in Jerusalem, and specifically in this neighborhood, has been documented for years. They use an apartment in the area as their headquarters/church. Many years ago, the City of Jerusalem was called to report their activities. The City's response was that they had received a permit.

Fortunately, we have leaders such as Bentzi Gopstein who recognize that the presence of missionaries, spreading the avodah zarah (foreign worship) messages of false deity-messiahs, is unacceptable in any way, shape, or form.

The title of this first video could not be any clearer. It should be presented as the conclusion of this post. But it is the most significant for Jews to see, and allow it to sink in. It is their bottom line. Jews need to realize that for the most advanced in strategy. Proselytizing has long since been given a backseat to their ultimate objective, inheritance of the Land of Israel, in one way or another. And yet, they still cannot seem to help themselves, can they?

It disturbs me greatly to show photos of these people on this site. But, you must be able to recognize them. You need to see their faces to help it sink in that they exist, that these words were said by a real person, with real objectives that fly in the face of The Almighty and His Holy Torah.

In spite of Waller's "rejection" of proselytizing, he seems to manage to sneak it in. He calls it ״sharing.״ How is this not missionizing?

In this video, Tommy Waller is speaking at a messianic home church called Nethaniel Fellowship run by Victoria Sarvadi. Her non-profit organization the Nathaniel Foundation funds Hayovel along with messianic missionaries and Jewish to Christian organizations. Waller invites those in attendance to come worship in the vineyards of Israel, and tells them how their worship makes Jews happy.

And there you are, the goals of the Waller Family in their own words. The main issue is making this information available in Hebrew. Almost everything written about the Wallers is in English. Those rabbis in Israel lacking sufficient skill in English must rely on English speakers for information about them, when making Torah-based rulings affecting the involvement of Christians in the affairs of Jews in Israel.

Often such information is skewed by those English speakers presenting it, either out of good intentions, or out of ulterior motives, or simply because they believe they know better than the rabbis.

We know that it can be difficult to accept and believe everything that is presented here, primarily because yo have only been presented with one side of the story, the side based  on ignorance of Torah Law, or co-dependence on the love and validation the Christians have been offering, or simply out of greed.

We assume that the rabbis in Israel who seem to be open, if not supportive, of Christian assistance within the Land of Israel itself, have not been provided with accurate information about them or the truth about their beliefs.

Recently one rabbi has been suggesting that there are Christians who worship The Almighty "b'Shituf," through an intercessor they associate with The Almighty. Even though this still does not justify supporting their presence in Eretz Yisrael under the condition of יד ישראל תקיפה (Jewish control over the Land).

Clicking this link will take you to an audio clip of Dean Bye telling us exactly what they believe, that they are praying directly to a false deity, and not "b'Shituf." Bye is a close associate of the Waller Family and its Hayovel organization located in Samaria.

Zac Waller himself is seen speaking of the "physical presence of god" is clearly not worship b'Shituf.

And so, we ask that you help us disseminate this crucial information, especially during such difficult times we are experiencing in Israel. Without your help, Jews may continue to turn to Christians, and elsewhere for help, instead of turning to The Holy One, Blessed Be He. Or worse, Jews make begin to believe that it is the same thing.

במהלך מתעצמות הזוועות הבוצעות על ידי חמאס ובני הערובה היהודים שנלקחו באמצעות פשע חמאס נותרו בשבי, התקבלו תגובות תומכות עצומות מצד התומכים הלא-יהודים של ישראל ברחבי העולם. ועל תמיכתם אנו אסירי תודה לנצח. עם זאת, למרבה הצער, האירועים הנגמרו ברע בישראל היו גם מטרה לניצול על ידי מיסיונרים נוצרים ודומיהם בארה״ב ובמקומות אחרים. התרחשות הזו היא מצערת ומסוכנת שרק מתחזקת על ידי הבקשה החזקה בחוגים יהודיים מסוימים ל"דו-שיח בין-דתי " וכדומה, שאני מתנגד להם לחלוטין, משיקולים הלכתיים. מבחינת רב, אני מאמין שהציונות הנוצרית היא תופעה שאנו חייבים להיזהר ממנה ביותר, ואני גם מאמין שיש להימנע מזה. דו-שיח בין-דתי מקודם על ידי ארגונים כמו מועצת הרבנים של אמריקה. האנטישמיות המתמשכת איתה מתמודדים יהודים ברחבי העולם, כולל האנטישמיות של אנטי-יהדות המתחזה לפילוסופיות. האנטישמיות כזו מוכיחה שאנחנו ״לבדד ישכון״, העם השוכן לבדו (במדבר כג,ט).

חוסר ההתאמה בין היהדות לאמונות דתיות אחרות הוא יסודי ועובדה משמעותית שאנו מתעלמים ממנה לעתים קרובות בניסיון הנואש בכדי למצוא מעט תמיכה בקרב אומות העולם. ובכל זאת אי אפשר להפריז בזה. נתחיל בתפילת ״עלינו״, שלפי מסורתנו היא נכתבה על ידי יהושע בן נון, ושאנו קוראים אותה לאחר כל תפילה (מגן אברהם, שולחן ערוך, אורח חיים קלב,א). המקור של התפילה הוא בחלק ״מלכיות״ שבתפילת מוסף של ראש השנה, שבו אנו מתפללים בניצחון שה׳ יתקבל ושכל האנשים בעולם יעבדו אותו , " לתקן עולם במלכות שדי", כלומר לתקן את העולם בריבונותו של אלוקים אמיתי. תפילת ״עלינו״ בכלל לא תחושה ליברלית של דו-קיום אברהמי בין-דתי. אלא בתפילת "עלינו" משתמעת תקוותנו שמי שעובדים את אלוהות האדם של הנצרות ינטשו אמונה מוטעית שכזו, ויקבלו אמונה מונותיאיסטית באלוקים אחד, תוך הימנעות מעבודה זרה, האסורה על לא-יהודים; הנצרות היא אכן סוג של עבודה זרה שאנו מתפללים שתימחק מהעולם באלינו. בעוד דיון הלכתי במעמד הנצרות עבור לא-יהודים הוא מעבר למאמר זה, אני מציין כי ללא עוררין, לפי הרמב"ם, הנצרות היא עבודה זרה עבור לא-יהודים (הל, מאכלות אסורות יא,ד [ז]; הל׳ עבודה זרה ט,ד; פרוש המשניות עבודה זרה א,ג), והרמ"א (יורה דעה קמח, יב), בגרסאות הלא מצונזרות של שולחן ערוך, מציינים כי 25 בדצמבר ו-1 בינואר, לציון לידתו וברית המילה של אותו האיש, הם חגים של עבודת אלילים. גם על לא-יהודים נאסר להאמין במשיח שקר, אפילו מבלי להאמין באלוהות שלו או שהוא אלוקים, שכן כפירה ואפיקורסות הן אסורות כעבודה זרה היא אסורה. נודע ביהודה תנינא יורה דעה קמח אומר ששיתוף (אמונה דמוית שילוש הקודש) היא עבודה זרה אפילו לגויים, והרמ"א והרא"ן מעולם לא התכוונו לומר ששיתוף מותר לגויים. ולכן האמירה הרווחת של אנשים שעל סמך הרמ"א אין איסור של שיתוף לגויים, אינה נכונה. פתחי תשובה על שולחן ערוך יורה דעה קמז,ב מסכם ששיתוף אסור גם לגויים, לפיכך אנו רואים שגם לפי דעותיהם של פוסקים אשכנזים, הנצרות אסורה לגויים באופן מוחלט כעבודה זרה, ואנו מתפללים בלהט שכל אומות העולם ינטשו אמונות שווא ויקבלו את שבע מצוות בני נח. לכן, כפי שהיה ר' משה פיינשטיין זצ"ל, אני מתנגד לחלוטין לכל "דו-שיח בין דתי" כי אין על מה לנהל דו-שיח ברמה הדתית עם לא-יהודים, מלבד לגרום להם לנטוש את אמונתם האלילים ולקבל על עצמם את שבע מצוות בני נח. זה מאוד לא תואם להיות עם שאומר את ״עלינו לשבח...״ שלוש פעמים ביום ומשמיע את דברי הפיוט "ויאתיו" בתפילת מוסף בימים הנוראים תוך שהוא מחבק את הנצרות באמצעות מאמצים בין-דתיים כאלה. זו סתירה טבעית ויסודית ביותר עבור שומרי תורה ומצוות להתפלל ליום שבו הלא-יהודים (כולל הנוצרים) "ידברו על גבורת ה', ויגרמו להעלאת השם מעל הכל" (ויאתיו), תוך שהם גם מכבדים את דתם באמצעות דו-שיח בין-דתי ולתת חיבוק ל"הציונות הנוצרית".

בתשובה מיום י"ט באדר א' תשכ"ז / 1 במרץ 1967 לרבי ד"ר ברנרד לנדר ז"ל (שהקים מכללת טורו), הרב משה זצ״ל מגנה את המפגש המתוכנן של חברי RCA (הסתדרות הרבנים דאמריקה) עם נציגים קתולים ופרוטסטנטים שונים, ומזהיר כדלקמן:

מגיפה מתפשטת כעת במקומות רבים בגלל האפיפיור החדש (האפיפיור פאולוס השישי) שכוונתו היחידה היא להרחיק את כל היהודים מאמונתם הקדושה והטהורה ולקבל את האמונה הנוצרית. שכן קל יותר להשיג זאת באמצעות השיטות הללו מאשר באמצעות שנאה ורצח שבהם השתמשו האפיפיורים הקודמים. לפיכך, כל עיסוק בהם אפילו בענינים כלליים וכל שכן התקרבות ממש לאסיפה אסורה באיסור חמור של "התקרבות לעבודת אלילים". יש גם איסור להסית ולהטעות”.

גם אם אתה ושאר הרבנים המגיעים לשם תקפידו בדבריכם וגם לא מספרים בשבחם של הכהנים והאמונתם כפי שעושים הרבנים הרפורמים והקונסרבטיביים, המסיתים ומובילים אחרים בדרך הלא נכונה, הרבה אנשים ילמדו מהם שמותר להגיע לאירועים כגון הרצאות המיסיונרים. יתר על כן, לא כדאי להם אפילו לשלוח לשם מכתב המביע את מה שתכננתם לומר, שכן כל יחסי גומלין איתם מסייעת עוד יותר לתוכניות המרושעות שלהם. אסור גם להשתתף בכל דרך במפגשים כאלה כי שמעתי שהם רוצים לקיים בבוסטון ורומא. כל מי שיצטרף אליהם ייחשב למי שמסית ומוביל את עם ישראל מהדרך הנכונה". רבים מהנוצרים של היום טוענים שהם תומכים בישראל, מכיוון שהם מאמינים שזהו תנאי הכרחי לאמונות חזון אחרית הימים שלהם להתקיים, ואף לתרום תמיכה כספית ומאמצי התנדבות לישראל. למעשה, אנו נזכרים את מה שכתוב בסוף פרק א' של ליקוטי אמרים, המצטט את הגמרא, בבא בתרא י ע"ב, שמזהיר כדלקמן:

תַּנְיָא, אָמַר לָהֶן רַבָּן יוֹחָנָן בֶּן זַכַּאי לְתַלְמִידָיו: בָּנַי, מַהוּ שֶׁאָמַר הַכָּתוּב: ״צְדָקָה תְרוֹמֵם גּוֹי, וְחֶסֶד לְאֻמִּים חַטָּאת״? נַעֲנָה רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר וְאָמַר: ״צְדָקָה תְּרוֹמֵם גּוֹי״ – אֵלּוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל, דִּכְתִיב: ״וּמִי כְּעַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל גּוֹי אֶחָד בָּאָרֶץ״; ״וָחָסֶד לְאֻמִּים חַטָּאת״ – כׇּל צְדָקָה וָחֶסֶד שֶׁאוּמּוֹת הָעוֹלָם עוֹשִׂין, חֵטְא הוּא לָהֶן; שֶׁאֵינָם עוֹשִׂין אֶלָּא לְהִתְגַּדֵּל בּוֹ,

לפיכך, איננו בטוחים במניעים של פעולות כאלה, אולי תורמות כספים ועוד סיוע ותמיכה הם בכוונה לבשור את הבשורה הנוצרית ולהסית יהודים לקבל את אמונותיהם של הנוצרים, חס וחלילה; נדיבות כזו גוררת תחושה של קשר קרוב ועמוק, ותחושה כזו יוצרת הזדמנויות להשפיע ליהודים לעזוב את היהדות. לגבי הלכה מתחילים בגמרא, המלמדת שחטא לעובדי אלילים לתת צדקה כי הם בדרך כלל נותנים צדקה מטעמים נסתרים (בבא בתרה י ע"ב). רב נחמן מלמד שקבלת צדקה מגויים פוסלת מעדות (מעיד בבית דין, סנהדרין כו ע"ב). הגמרא מונה שני חריגים, המתירים צדקה כזו אם היא מתקבלת באופן פרטי או אם צריך כסף כדי לחיות. אנו מציינים כי בהתבסס על גמרא זו פוסקים ובהם הרב אלישיב זצ"ל, הרב דב ליאור, והרב אביגדור נבנצל אוסרים קבלת כל תרומה מהאוונגליסטים. הרב אלישיב זצ"ל פסק במפורש שאין לקבל כספים מ-IFCJ (האחווה הבינלאומית בין יהודים לנוצרים) בראשות ר' יחיאל אקשטיין ע"ה, מוסמך מישיבה אוניברסיטי. תרומות כאלה משמשות לתת לעובדי אלילים נותנת להם חניה בקרקע; הרמב"ם כותב שיש מצווה לגרש את עבודת האלילים מארץ ישראל (הל׳ עבודה זרה ז, ב- ובארץ ישראל, מצוה לרדוף אחריה עד שנאבד אותה מכל ארצנו ולא לתת לעובדי עבודה זרה לגור בה), ולקבל כספים כאלה נוגד את זה.

למרות הנסיבות הנוכחיות שלנו מאתגרות, האיסור הזה עדיין קיים בעינו, וראוי שנתחזק בנחישותנו בשמירת המצוות והקפדה על דברי גדולינו בימים קשים אלו. לפיכך, איננו יכולים לאפשר הורדת עכבותינו ואינו יכולים לאפשר את היחלשותה של היהדות המנצחת, המשתוקקת ליום שבו בני דתות אחרות. וגם אם עבור הגויים של היום הוא רק "מנהג אבותיכם בידכם", ינטשו את אמונות באלוקות שקר ובמשיחי שקר, יקבלו את האמונה בה׳ וישתוקקו לביאת המשיח היהודי האמיתי, שיבוא במהירה בימינו.

Missionary Exploitation of the Israeli Crisis

As the horrors committed by Hamas intensify and the innocent Jews taken hostage remain in captivity, there have been overwhelmingly supportive responses from Israel’s non-Jewish supporters throughout the globe, and for their support we are eternally grateful. Yet, unfortunately, the tragic events in Israel have also been the subject of exploitation by Christian missionaries and their ilk in the United States and elsewhere, an unfortunate and dangerous occurrence which has only been buttressed by the push in some Jewish circles for “interfaith dialogue” and the like, which I am totally opposed to, on halachic grounds. As an Orthodox rabbi, I believe that Christian Zionism is a phenomenon we must be most wary of, and I also believe that interfaith dialogue, advanced by organizations such as the Rabbinical Council of America, must be eschewed; if anything, the continued antisemitism faced by Jews around the world, including the antisemitism of anti-Judaism masquerading as philosemitism, demonstrates that we are am levadad yishkon, the people that dwells alone (Bamidbar 23:9).

The fundamental incompatibility of Judaism and other religious faiths is a significant fact that we often overlook in the desperate attempt to find some modicum of support among the umot haolam. Yet this cannot be overstated. Let us begin with the Aleinu prayer, which our tradition attributes to Yehoshua bin Nun, and which we recite after each tefillah (Magen Avraham OC 132:1). Far from it being a paean to a liberal sense of interfaith Abrahamic coexistence, the prayer’s original context is in the Malchuyot section of Rosh HaShanah Mussaf, in which we triumphantly pray for HaShem to be accepted and revered by all people the entire world over, “l’takein olam b’malchus Shakai,” to repair the world under the Sovereignty of the One, True G-d. Implicit in the Aleinu is our hope that those who worship the man-deity of Christianity would abandon such an erroneous belief, and embrace a monotheistic belief in One G-d, eschewing avodah zarah, which is prohibited for non-Jews; Christianity indeed is the sort of avodah zarah we pray will be extirpated from the world in the Aleinu. While a halachic discussion of the status of Christianity for non-Jews is beyond this piece, I note that unquestionably, according to the Rambam, Christianity is avodah zarah for non-Jews (Hilchos Ma’achalos Asuros 11:7; Hilchos Avoda Zara 9:4; Perush HaMishnayos Avoda Zara 1:3), and the Rema (YD 148:12), in the uncensored variants of Shulchan Aruch, notes that December 25 and January 1, commemorating the birth and circumcision of Oso haIsh, are holidays of idolatry. Non-Jews are also forbidden to believe in a false messiah, even without believing in the divinity or deity of such a figure, as kefira and apikorses are considered as prohibited as avodah zarah. The Noda BeYehuda Tinyana Y.D. 148 says that Shituf (trinitarian-like belief) is Avoda Zara even for gentiles, and the Rema and Ran never intended to say that Shituf is permitted for them, and thus the common statement of people that based on the Rema there is no Issur of Shituf for gentiles, is incorrect. The Pischei Teshuvah Y.D. 147:2 concludes that Shituf is forbidden also for gentiles, therefore we see that even according to the opinions of Ashkenazic poskim, Christianity is absolutely forbidden for gentiles as avodah zarah, and we pray fervently that all of the nations of the world would abandon their false beliefs and accept the sheva mitzvos bnei Noach. Therefore, as was Reb Moshe zt”l, I am absolutely opposed to any “dialogue” because there is nothing to dialogue about on a religious level with non-Jews, other than inducing them to abandon their idolatrous beliefs and accept the sheva mitzvos. It is highly incongruous to be a people who davens the Aleinu thrice daily and who utters the words of the piyyut “Ve’eyetayu” in Musaf on the yomim noraim while also embracing Christianity in the form of such interfaith efforts. It is inherently contradictory on the most fundamental level for a Torah Jew to pray for the day when the non-Jews (including Christians) will “speak of G-d’s might, causing HaShem to be lifted above all” (V’ye’etayu), while also dignifying their religion in the form of interfaith dialogue and embrace of “Christian Zionism.”

In a teshuva dated 19 Adar I, 5727 – March 1, 1967 to R’ Dr. Bernard Lander z”l (who established Touro College), Reb Moshe condemns the planned meeting of RCA members with various Catholic and Protestant representatives, cautioning as follows:

A plague is now spreading in many places because of the new pope (Pope Paul VI) whose only intention is to move all Jews away from their holy and pure faith to accept the Christian Faith. For it is easier to accomplish this through these methods than through hate and murder that previous popes have used. Therefore, any dealing with them even on general matters and all [the more so] actual coming close for a meeting is forbidden with the severe prohibition of “coming close to idolatry.” There is also a prohibition of enticing and leading astray.”

Even if you and the other rabbis who go there will be careful with your words and you will also not flatter the priests and their faith as do the Reform and Conservative rabbis, who entice and lead others to go astray, many people will learn from them that it is permitted to go to the events such as the lectures of the missionaries. Furthermore, you should not even send a letter there expressing what you planned on saying for any interaction with them further assists their evil plans. It is also forbidden to participate in any manner in meetings like these for I heard that they want to have in Boston and Rome. Anyone who joins with them will be considered one who entices and leads astray the Jewish people.” (Igros Moshe YD 3:43).

(In spite of this psak, Yeshiva University hosted Catholic cardinals, including the meshumad Lustiger, in its beis medrash, the RCA continues to formally support interfaith dialogues, with one of its proponents, a rabbi in East Brunswick, waxing prosaically about his friendship and lengthy conversations with “Fr. Charlie,” and Touro College has hosted such clerics, as well.)

Many of today’s Christians claim to support Israel, as they believe that this is a necessary prerequisite for their apocalyptic beliefs to unravel, and even extend financial support and volunteer efforts to Israel. In truth, we are reminded of what is written at the end of chapter 1 of Likutei Amarim, which brings the gemara, Bava Basra 10b, which cautions as follows:

“R. Yoḥanan ben Zakkai said to his students: “My children, what is the meaning of the verse (Mishlei 14:34): ‘Charity elevates a nation and the loving kindness of the nations is a sin (cḥatat)?’” R. Eliezer answered: “’Charity elevates a nation’—this is Israel, as the verse states (Shmuel Beis 7:23): ‘And who is like Your nation Israel, a unique nation on earth.’ ‘And the loving kindness of the nations is a sin’—all of the charity and loving kindness that the nations perform is a sin for them, for they do so only to aggrandize themselves.” 

Thus, we are unsure of the motivations of such actions, which may be taken with the intention to proselytize and induce Jews to accept the beliefs of the Christians, chas v’chalila; such generosity breeds intimacy, and such intimacy creates opportunities to induce Jews to abandon Judaism. As a matter of halacha, we begin with our gemara here, which teaches us that it is sinful for idolaters to give tzedakah because they generally give for ulterior motives (Bava Basra 10b). Rav Nachman teaches that accepting tzedakah from gentiles disqualifies one from eidus (testifying in court, Sanhedrin 26b). The Gemara lists two exceptions, permitting such charity if it is accepted privately or if one needs the money to live. We note that based on this gemara, poskim including Rav Elyashiv zt”l (who paskened explicitly that one may not accept any funds from the International Fellowship of Xtians and Jews, led by R’ Yechiel Eckstein, a”h, a musmach from Yeshiva University), Rav Dov Lior, and Rav Avigdor Nebentzahl have assured (prohibited) accepting any donations from the evangelists. Such donations serve to give idolaters a foothold in Eretz haKodesh; the Rambam writes that there is a mitzvah to banish idolatry from Eretz Yisroel (Hilchos Avodah Zarah 7:2- pursue avodah zarah and get rid of it from the entire Eretz Yisroel and not allow ovdei avodah zarah to live there), and accepting such funds is counter to this.  As challenging as our current circumstances are, this prohibition still stands, and it behooves us to strengthen our resolve in shmiras hamitzvos and heeding the words of our gedolim in these difficult times. Thus, we cannot allow our inhibitions to be lowered and we cannot allow for the weakening of Judaism triumphant, which yearns for the day when people of other faiths, even if for today’s gentiles is only “minhag avoseichem b’yadeichem,” will abandon their beliefs in false gods and false messiahs, accept belief in HaShem, and yearn for the coming of the real Jewish moshiach, may he come bimheira b’yomeinu.

The following is a translation into Hebrew of the warning put out by Tomer Devorah about the various missionary groups expected to arrive before and during Sukkot, and the upcoming events. לצערי, עלי להביא אזהרה לכל הבאים לירושלים עיר הקודש לחג הסוכות כי הם בסכנת מסתננים ופולשים גויים המבקשים לפגוע בם באותו רגע שהם מצהירים שאוהבים את עם ישראל ומוסרים לו. הם משקרים כדי ללכוד נשמות יהודיות ומחטיאים ליהודים לחטוא בפני אביהם שבשמים.

חג הסוכות אמור להיות ״זמן שמחתנו״ בארץ מולדתנו המבורכת. ארץ ישראל היא מקום היחיד בעולם שבו אנו אמורים להיות משוחררים מהתנכלויות הגויים. אפילו אם כן מתכננים המוני עובדי אלילים לבצע את עבודתם המרושעת זרה בפרהסיה. הם מסיתים כעס ושיפוט אלוהיים. והם גם יעשו זאת בברכתו ובתמיכתו של המשטר המרושע הזה השולט עלינו ובהגנת המשטרה ובתי המשפט.

היהודים הוטעו להאמין שאין בזה שום בעיה הלכתית. וכעת משפחות דתיות רבות משתתפות במצעד הזה כל שנה ושנה ואז הפכה להיות מסורת משפחתית שנתית שלהם. הגויים האלו לא צדיקי אומות העולם בכלל שבאים בכדי להציג את אהבה ותמיכה לעם ישראל. אלא הם מיסיונרים טורפים המגיעים ככובשים להכתיר אל כוזב כ"מלך" על כולנו!! בואו לקרוא את מה שהם כותבים על זה:

"סוכות מציין גם את אסיף הקציר בסוף עונת הקיץ,... יש גם כיום יבול גדול של נשמות מכל כנפות העולם...."

"...היום אנחנו שומרים את חג הסוכות בגלל המטרה הנבואית העתידית החבויה בחג הייחודי הזה שיתגלה בקרוב - וזה קשור לביאתו השנייה של ה' (הכוונה שלו היא ישו). לאורך כל העידן המשיחי, כל העולם כולו יחגוג את החג הזה כי אני מאמין שזה יסמן את שובו של ישוע (יש״ו) לכדור הארץ".

לצערנו עלינו להתמודד מול היהודים משומדיים ולא רק מול הגויים. היהודים האלה מכנים עצמם יהודים "משיחיים". האמת היא שהם יהודים שעזבו את היהדות וקיבלו את האמונה הנוצרית.

"במשך שלושים וחמש השנים האחרונות, אלפי נוצרים מכל העולם עולים לירושלים מדי סתיו כדי לחגוג את חג הסוכות, בחסות השגרירות הנוצרית הבין-לאומית ירושלים. הם מגיעים עם ציפייה רבה להשתתף בחווית פולחן דינמית, בידיעה שמי שאנו עובדים לו יישב בקרוב על כסאו בעיר הגדולה הזו."

"השנה המשתה יכלול מנהיגי פולחן מקומיים ובינלאומיים שינכו אותנו לשעות מרעננים של פולחן לישו. כולל: יהושע אהרון (ישראל), אליהאנה אליה (ישראל), שילה בן הוד ו-SOLU (ישראל)”.

"...חג הסוכות של ICEJ הוא...הצהרה נבואית שאדוננו [ישו] אכן יבוא בקרוב. הוא מכריז לישראל ולעמים שיום חדש זורח. המלך בא, ואנחנו כאן לשמוח בכוחו התמרה ובביאתו בקרוב."

This was from an email briefing sent by Lou Engle about the culmination of the Isaiah 62 fast:

This divinely orchestrated collaboration recently came about in response to a historic prayer initiative called Pentecost 2023 Global Day of Prayer, scheduled for May 28th. A group of 5000+ prayer networks targeting 110 unreached cities have mobilized all of their intercessors to focus on Jerusalem for one 24-hour period. That means that on the 21st day of the fast, over 100 million Gentile, Jewish, and Arab believers from around the world will be gathered around the throne, praying for the salvation of Israel and the Jewish peoples.

There will also be a 24-hour broadcast starting the evening of May 27th and running through the 28th. It will climax with a live, two-hour prayer service on the Southern Steps of the Temple Mount from 10 am - 12 noon (Israel Standard Time) with Lou Engle leading Communion. This will all take place in what is believed to be the same location where 3000 Jews came to faith in Yeshua on the day of Pentecost almost 2000 years ago (Acts 2).

Israeli messianic organizations to participate include Fellowship of Israel Related Ministries [FIRM], Tikkun Global, King of Kings, Sukkat Hallel, Chaim Malespin's Aliyah Return Center, and Dean Bye's Return Ministries.

The two hour worship service will be part of a 24 hour Global day of prayer for Israel and the Jews. A ten year campaign to evangelize the world, starting with the nation of Israel, will be launched at this event also.
